2013 Belleville School District Wall of Recognition

Honoring "The Delicates"

On October 8th - 10th 2013 the Belleville Education Foundation honored "The Delicates" by hosting a number of events:

Tuesday October 8th
The School #8 All Purpose Room was renamed in honor of "The Delicates"  The event was held from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm and was hosted by School #8 Principal Ms. Aida Cardona.

Wednesday October 9th
On Wednesday from 4 pm - 5 pm Union Avenue between Holmes Street and Belleville Avenue was renamed "Delicates Drive".  The event was hosted by our Third Ward Councilman Mr. Vincent Cozzarelli.  Also in attendance was our Mayor Mr. Raymond Kimble and from our Board of Education: Board President Mr. John Rivera, Board Vice President Mrs. Jeanne Lombardi, and Board Trustees: Mr. William Freda and Mr. Joseph Longo.

The Delicates also toured the Belleville Middle School which was the original Belleville High School when they graduated in 1962.

At 6:00 pm a Cocktail Party was held at in the beautiful Carnegie room at the Belleville Public Library.  Approximately sixty people attended the event.  The food was donated by several of our local restaurants. The deserts were made by our very own Belleville High School Culinary Arts Students.

Thursday October 10th
On Thursday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm an assembly for our High School Students was held at Belleville High School hosted by Principal Mr. Russell Pagano.  The students listened to "The Delicates" biography.  Each member of "The Delicates" (Arleen, Denise, and Peggy Santiglia) addressed the students and shared their life experiences.

At 3:30 pm "The Delicates" were formally inducted onto the Belleville High School Wall of Recognition hosted by the Belleville Education Foundation Chairman Mr. Richard Yanuzzi.  A plaque with a picture of "The Delicates" along with their biography was unveiled.   Arleen, Denise, and Peggy were each presented with their own plaque.

At 7:00 pm the formal Gala event held at the Chandelier began.  The event was attended by over one hundred people.  The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Mr. Brian Haggerty.  The Delicates were each presented with a proclamation from the New Jersey State Legislature by Assembleman Ralph Caputo as well as a proclamation from the Township of Belleville by Councilman Vincent Cozzarelli.

The Belleville Education Foundation would like to thank all those who attended the events.  The proceeds from these events will used to enhance the technology used in the Belleville School District and to provide grants to individual teachers.
